OMNI Human Resource Management has been retained in a search for a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for our client in Chicago. This FQHC practice, located in the south side of Chicago, has a long history of providing quality care to patients in their community.

The CMO has primary responsibility for the coordination and oversight of all medical care and quality of services provided by the practice. This position serves as a member of the Administrative Executive Leadership Team, as well as the Clinical Department. The CMO oversees all clinical policies and procedures; supervises all Providers (physicians, mid-level providers, dentists, LCSWs, Registered Dieticians); manages all clinical supervisory staff and 340B Pharmacy and Laboratory programs. Additionally, this position manages the cost-effective utilization of clinic resources, leadership of the organization's Continuous Quality Improvement programs, while ensuring their patients receive the highest quality of health care.



Responsibilities

  • Works with the CEO, the Organizational Leadership team and staff to develop and communicate the health center's vision/plans for improving the health of their patients.
  • Assures consistency of organizational mission with demonstrated needs/expectations of the medically underserved community by identifying the health care needs of the community and communicating those needs to the staff, such that program initiatives are created that are designed to meet the needs of the community.
  • Collaborates in ensuring the viability of the organization through the oversight of provider productivity, development of the annual budget, participation as a member of the administrative management team and participation in the processes of grant writing and funding opportunities.
  • Serves as the agency liaison to the area medical community-at-large, including medical schools, community physicians and medical societies; establishes positive relationships with that community and attends local medical society functions.
  • Provides professional oversight of the delivery of medical care by clinical staff through direct supervision and audits; serves as a mentor and manages the resolution of practices related problems of providers and staff.
  • Provides formal orientation to new providers and conducts annual performance evaluations for all physicians, mid-level providers, dietitian, behavioral health professionals and the Clinical Quality and Compliance Care Team.
  • Assures clinical services meet the program requirements to maintain FQHC status and assists in education for staff to assure understanding of FQHC compliance regulations.
  • The Chief Medical Officer will see patients 2 days/week in addition to leadership and administrative responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Medical Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certified in Family Medicine
  • Current Illinois Medical License
  • Current DEA License and CPR Certification
  • Must have or be able to obtain admitting privileges to a local hospital
  • Must meet all credentialing requirements for Medicaid, Medicare and insurances.
  • 5+ years practice in medicine in an outpatient primary care environment.
  • 2+ years of managerial experience in an in-or out-patient environment.
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of the medical and administrative issues involved in providing leadership to the operations of an ambulatory health care organization.
  • Ability to work effectively with managers, co-workers, members of the public and professional groups.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, concisely with others (internal and external customers, both verbally and in writing) and consistently demonstrate positive/proactive customer service attitude.
